Lung Cancer – Epidemiology, Guideline, Treatment

EPIDEMIOLOGY The 2017 report of the National Cancer Registry summarised cancer incidence, mortality and survival in Ireland for the period 1994-2015, and provided projected estimates for incidence for the most recent three-year period, 2015-2017. For all invasive cancers excluding non-melanoma skin cancers, lung cancer was the 3rd most common cancer diagnosed in males (11.8%), and the 2nd most common cancer diagnosed in females (11.1%) during 2015-2017 (estimated incidence). Lung cancer was the leading cause of cancer death in both sexes, accounting for 19% of cancer deaths in women and 23% of cancer deaths in men, during the period 2012-2014. There…
