Breast Cancer – Epidemiology, Guideline, Treatment

EPIDEMIOLOGY The National Cancer Registry 2017 report summarised cancer incidence, mortality and survival in Ireland during 1994-2015, and provided estimated incidence for the period 2015-2017. Breast cancer was the most commonly diagnosed invasive cancer in women (30.1%) from 2015-2017 (estimated incidence), excluding non-melanoma skin cancers. On average, 27 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in Ireland every year during this period. Deaths from breast cancer accounted for 17.1% of all female cancer deaths during 2012-2014.
